Athletic: Just one Chelsea player set to start for England today

The Athletic looked to have pipped the full England line up ahead of the big match against Croatia today, and it looks like two Chelsea players are missing out in the starting line up.

Personally, I wasn’t expecting Reece James to be a starter, purely because I know exactly what Gareth Southgate is like, but I really hope these reports of an early line up are incorrect, but I highly doubt they are.

According to the reliable David Ornstein of The Athletic, England look set to use back a back four today.

Barring late changes, Kieran Trippier will start at left back, Kyle Walker at right back, Tyrone Mings and John Stones as the centre backs, with Kalvin Phillips and Declan Rice ahead and Mason Mount, Raheem Sterling, Phill Foden and Harry Kane.

No place for Ben Chilwell or Reece James.

He’s not even using a natural left sided player at left back. Wow, Gareth, wow. No Jack Grealish. Wow, Gareth, wow.

Trying to stay positive…. Ah whatever, FOOTBALL’s COMING HOME!!
