Athletic Club star on verge of Boca Juniors switch | OneFootball

A member of the midfield ranks at La Liga outfit Athletic Club is closing on a surprise move to Argentina, with heavyweights Boca Juniors.

That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, who point towards Ander Herrera as the player in question.

Veteran midfielder Herrera has for his part found game time difficult to come by across much of the campaign to date.

Amid strong competition for places at the heart of Ernesto Valverde’s midfield, the former Manchester United man has been afforded just a pair of La Liga starts.

Speculation, in turn, had begun to mount of late that Herrera was closing on an upcoming exit from the Basque Country.

And, as alluded to above, if the latest update on the situation to have surfaced on Friday is anything to go by, then as much now appears closer than ever.

As per a report from Mundo Deportivo:

‘Ander Herrera is currently negotiating his departure from Athletic to sign for Boca Juniors, as MD has been able to confirm. The agreement could be closed between today and tomorrow.’
