Athletic Club star Unai Nuñez has moved to reveal his appreciation for the efforts of Real Madrid midfielder Federico Valverde.

This of course comes after the Uruguayan international proved himself match-winner in the La Liga meeting between the two sides last night.

With proceedings looking set to play out into a goalless stalemate, Valverde conjured up a moment of individual brilliance deep into injury-time.

Taking the ball down in the Athletic penalty area, the 26-year-old directed an unstoppable volleyed effort into the far top corner of the visitors’ net.

This proved all she wrote when it came to the scoring at the Santiago Bernabéu, keeping alive Real Madrid’s slim La Liga title hopes.

And as alluded to above, one individual who could not help but be impressed by such quality on Valverde’s part was Unai Nuñez.

Speaking to the media on the back of the full-time whistle on Sunday, defender Unai admitted:

“Valverde’s goal? It’s a moment of genius that made the difference.”
