Athletic Club’s Nico Williams has caught the eye of many top European clubs after an impressive 2023-24 season with the Spanish side. The 21-year-old’s standout performance has attracted a lot of interest.

Recently, Paris Saint-Germain has been linked with several skilled wingers, including Khvicha Kvaratskhelia. However, negotiations with Napoli have been tough, leading PSG to explore other options.

According to a recent report from CaughtOffside, Williams has caught the interest of several top clubs, including Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United, Tottenham, Barcelona, and PSG.

However, Barcelona could face a challenging road to securing the Athletic Club star. SPORT reports (h/t Diario AS) that Athletic are unwilling to negotiate with the Catalan team and is referring to the termination clause.

Recently, there has been talk that Barça wanted to pay the total amount in several installments, something that Bilbao will not accept either.

Football España recently reported that Barcelona is making a considerable internal effort to sign Williams despite the financial challenges. His release clause is €58 million, and they’d also need to offer him a substantial wage package to secure the Spanish winger.

Williams featured in 37 matches across all competitions, scoring nine goals and providing 19 assists.
