Athletic Club dealt suspension blow before Celta clash | OneFootball

Athletic Club were on Saturday evening dealt a considerable blow on the personnel front.

As much came during the club’s La Liga meeting with Osasuna.

Ernesto Valverde’s troops are fresh off a somewhat disappointing night’s work, which saw them require a last-gasp equaliser to clinch just a share of the spoils against an Osasuna outfit in the midst of freefall.

And yet, their two dropped points proved far from Athletic’s only concern on Saturday.

This comes with a key member of the Basque outfit’s backline having also picked up for himself a suspension.

The player in question? Yuri Berchiche.

Stopper Yuri, for his part, was afforded a starting berth in his customary role on the left of boss Valverde’s defence against Osasuna.

Midway through the first-half, though, the experienced full-back was shown a yellow card.

His 5th of the La Liga campaign, Yuri has therefore been sanctioned with a one-match suspension, meaning he will be unavailable for selection this coming Wednesday, against Celta Vigo.
