Athletic Bilbao are taking a closer look at re-signing Javi Martinez from Bayern Munich.

With his deal expiring in June, Athletic Club are exploring the prospect of signing the Spain international veteran.

Martinez left Athletic Club in 2012 for Bayern and has since won everything in the game.

AS says Martinez could yet be brought back to Bilbao, though his old club do have alternatives under consideration.

Jon Moncayola, of Osasuna, is another midfielder interesting Athletic.
