Athletic Bilbao hero Imanol Etxeberria joins Man City coaching staff | OneFootball

Imanol Etxeberria has joined Manchester City as a goalkeeper coach.

The former Athletic Bilbao goalkeeper and coach has joined City's staff to work as the reserve and youth team keeper coach, reports Mundo Deportivo.

Last season, Etxeberria was assistant manager at Cultural Leonesa.

He has previous English coaching experience, having worked at Championship outfit Luton Town.

The 48 year-old was spotted at Anfield last weekend to see Liverpool face his old club Athletic Bilbao.

With Athletic Club, Etxeberria played five years at San Mames and also coached both the B team and senior side in the capacity of goalkeeping trainer. He has been working as a goalkeeping coach for the past 15 years.

His appointment at City is part of the academy's coaching staff, which has been headlined by Enzo Maresca's departure from the U23 post to take charge of Serie B Parma.
