Late in the summer transfer window, Paris Saint-Germain was linked to Atalanta forward Ademola Lookman. However, new information reveals why the capital club opted not to make the big money signing.

In the final days, Lookman was linked to multiple clubs, not only PSG, as the 26-year-old reportedly drew interest from Arsenal and Liverpool. Since joining Atalanta in 2022, Lookman has made a significant impact.

Last season alone, the 26-year-old played in 45 matches, showcasing his impressive skills by scoring 17 goals and providing 10 assists. His standout performance came in the UEFA Europa League final, where he delivered a memorable hat-trick against Bayer Leverkusen.

As a result, it was no surprise that the Nigeria native drew interest from other prominent clubs in European football. So, why didn’t the Parisians not land Lookman before the deadline?

According to TuttoMercatoWeb (h/t Le10Sport), PSG was looking for a player similar to Khvicha Kvaratskhelia rather than focusing on Victor Osimhen. Consequently, Ademola Lookman was offered to the club.

Following his impressive performance in the Europa League final, the Serie A club valued him at around €55 million. Despite their interest, PSG couldn’t reach an agreement with the Serie A side. Atalanta deemed the Parisians’ offer too low.
