Atalanta have recently sent their first formal proposal to Corinthians for talented youngster Wesley Franca, who looks increasingly likely to make the long journey over from Brazil to play in Serie A.
Transfer expert Matteo Moretto has confirmed that La Dea have sent an official offer of €15m plus up to €5m in additional bonuses for the 20-year-old right-back.
Even though Atalanta are a few formalities away from completing the signing of fellow full-back Marc Pubill from Almeira, the club are still targeting a move for Wesley to provide healthy competition on the right-hand side of Gian Piero Gasperini’s team.
The coach recently came across frustrated when discussing Atalanta’s fortunes this pre-season.
The team lost Italy international Giorgio Scalvini to a cruciate ligament (ACL) injury right at the end of last season, and then Gianluca Scamacca went down with the exact same issue this time last week.
Teun Koopmeiners has also informed the club that he wishes to join Juventus, and so he is no longer training with the Atalanta first team.
Still, Gasperini has managed to bring in a handful of new additions, including fellow Azzurri striker Mateo Retegui, Nicolo Zaniolo on loan, Ben Godfrey on a free transfer, Ibrahim Sulemana from Cagliari and the permanent signing of Charles De Ketelaere, who spent last season on loan at the Gewiss Stadium.
