There appears to be a late twist in the transfer saga of Gianluca Scamacca as Atalanta are looking to hijack Inter Milan’s pursuit of the Italian striker.
Scamacca’s move to Inter appeared to be only a matter of time after they submitted an improved offer to West Ham United and agreed personal terms with the player.
However, La Dea are planning to throw a spanner in the works as they have also opened talks with the striker and the Premier League club.
Sky Sport Italia claim the Bergamo-based club are willing to offer more than Inter, whose proposal stands at €24 million plus €4m in bonuses.
Sport Media Set report Atalanta have tabled an offer worth €30m including bonuses – the fee West Ham have demanded.
They have also offered Scamacca a salary of €3.2m per season.
The former Sassuolo man’s priority is joining Inter, but he is open to snubbing them for Atalanta if they fail to finalise a deal.
Atalanta have already signed El Bilal Toure but are in the market for more attacking reinforcements to compensate for Rasmus Hojlund’s departure.
Scamacca’s transfer saga is eventful, with the Italy international already turning down AS Roma despite initially expressing his desire to join them.
Inter don’t want to be the next casualties, and they have lined up alternatives if Scamacca’s deal fails to come to fruition.
The Nerazzurri are looking at Udinese’s Beto and Arsenal’s Folarin Balogun as potential targets.
Balogun has been heavily linked with a move from Arsenal to the San Siro, but differences over the transfer fee have been a stumbling block for Inter.
