He told Cronache di Spogliatoio: “It's difficult, very difficult. There's a part of you that wants to win trophies, maybe the Scudetto, but then on the other hand I really like Bergamo, my family is happy here, the club is reliable.

“And then again you think it's possible to make the step up to an historic big club like Inter or Juventus. But Atalanta are getting into the first four every season now. I am an international, I'm happy and feel important.

“I'd like to end my career with Atalanta, but you never know in football. As things stand, this is the idea."
