The Atalanta injury crisis is getting worse with news that Odilon Kossounou will be out of action for three weeks.

La Dea have struggled to deal with the strain of Serie A and Champions League football, with their squad increasingly affected by fitness problems.

There is now another addition to the absentee list, as Kossounou limped off during the 1-1 draw with Bologna on September 28.

Tests were performed today on the muscular strain and found a Grade I lesion in the right femoral bicep.

According to Sky Sport Italia, he will be out of action for at least two to three weeks.

Kossounou adds to Atalanta woes

The 23-year-old Ivory Coast international arrived from Bayer Leverkusen in August for €5m on loan with option to buy for a further €25m.

Atalanta are already missing Giorgio Scalvini, Berat Djimsiti, Marco Brescianini, Matteo Ruggeri and Gianluca Scamacca.

The number of injuries are largely localised in defence, which has prompted Marten de Roon to drop into the back three as cover.
