Atalanta coach Gian Piero Gasperini responded to Daniele De Rossi’s recent criticism of the Lega’s decision to postpone the Bergamaschi’s match with Fiorentina until the end of the season.

The Roma boss had complained about this fixture potentially affecting the outcome of this year’s Champions League race.

Gasperini was not happy with De Rossi’s words and was prompt to respond to them in today’s post-match presser after Atalanta won 2-1 against Salernitana.

“Both with Marseille and with Roma we will be able to count on a vibrant stadium atmosphere. Next Sunday it is not decisive, only when the mathematics is there we will be able to make other types of reasoning.”

“I want to underline one thing. It is not our fault if we don’t know the recovery date with Fiorentina. This situation penalized us, we would have played earlier but it wasn’t possible. We have been playing three times a week for a long time now. Unfortunately, on that occasion, something dramatic happened and we must realize that it was not a code yellow like in Roma’s case.”

“We have not gained any advantage, this must be clear,” said Gasperini.
