Serie A side Atalanta failed to beat Bologna today, despite the fact that the Rossoblu were down to ten men in the game.

Jhon Lucumi was sent off for Bologna when they were 1-0 up and that handed a chance for Atalanta to get something from the game. But despite Lazar Samardzic’s brilliant goal, Atalanta could not really get all three points and they are now winless in two consecutive Serie A games that they should have ideally won.

After the game, Gian Piero Gasperini had some words to say about the game and he revealed that he is not happy at all about the result and they didn’t capitalise on the golden chance to win.

He said, as relayed by TMW: “In the first half Bellanova had several ideas but we never managed to capitalize. At a certain point, then, we were playing with 5 forwards, but we had to be more lucid even if I must say that the boys never gave up. If we had raised the technical level a little, maybe we would have managed to bring home the match.”

He spoke further about the game and stated that he is quite happy with how the side reacted to the red card and how they performed.

“Yes, both with the reaction and the performance, especially in the first half. The reaction after the goal was also thanks to the fact that Bologna were down to ten men. We could have scored earlier, but we lost a lot of balls and were also a bit unlucky. We leave with a point, but it’s too small for us.”

The Bergamo club are winless in three games in all competitions and have to get back to winning ways, as they find themselves at ninth in the table.
