Chelsea continue to work on a deal for Xavi Simons, and it’s believed negotiations are at an advanced stage with RB Leipzig.

Chelsea not currently in talks for Donnarumma

Chelsea are having a good summer strengthening the squad and making some exciting additions, but a lot of supporters would love to see a new goalkeeper.

The Blues had the opportunity to sign Mike Maignan earlier this summer, but weren’t prepared to meet AC Milan’s valuation.

It appears Robert Sanchez will start the season as number one again, although Chelsea have been linked with Donnarumma in the past week.

The Italian’s future at Paris Saint Germain has come into doubt having failed to agree a new contract, with his current deal expiring in 2026.

PSG are closing in on a deal for Lille’s Lucas Chevalier, who will likely be Donnarumma’s replacement, and Romano has provided an update on Chelsea’s reported interest.

He took to X.com and said:

“No talks ongoing at this stage between Gigio Donnarumma and Man United or Chelsea.

“Nothing concrete ongoing despite reports.”

Robert Sanchez showing signs of improvement?

Sanchez isn’t the most popular figure with Chelsea fans, however towards the end of last season and throughout the Club World Cup he performed well and showed signs of improvement.

The Spaniard is a good shot stopper, but his costly errors have also been an issue for Chelsea, and it remains to be seen if he’s capable of eliminating those from his game.

It feels like Chelsea are a top class goalkeeper away from completing the squad, but if Sanchez can continue his upturn in form, perhaps he can become that for the Blues.
