FLW asked our Sheffield United fan pundit, Jimmy, what his thoughts were regarding the recent rumours surrounding Tyrese Campbell.

If reports are to be believed, Sheffield United forward Tyrese Campbell is on the radar of AFC Bournemouth, among others, ahead of the January transfer window.

The 24-year-old is the son of Arsenal striker Kevin Campbell and beginning to show that goalscoring is very much in his genes, with his Blades efforts attracting attention from above.

According to talkSPORT, Campbell is being monitored for a move to the Cherries this winter. An enticing prospect for any young forward, given both their performance in the Premier League this campaign, and their history of integrating players arriving from lower divisions.

Despite starting just eight games out of a possible 21, the Manchester City academy man has scored six times in the league this season, making him both Sheffield United's top scorer, and the player with the best 'goals per 90 minutes' league-wide.

Sadly, Campbell sustained a hamstring injury playing against Millwall earlier this month, the severity of which is currently unknown.

However, this could indirectly prove to be a blessing for Blades supporters, as his suitors may now delay their interest until the summer.

We asked our Sheffield United fan pundit, Jimmy, what his thoughts were regarding the rumours, and if the former Stoke City forward did feel he was ready for a step-up to the Premier League, what the price tag for Tyrese Campbell could be.

"Hands off Tyrese Campbell! Hands off, he's our player, he's going nowhere," he said.

"I honestly can't see this move happening. His value is always what he's worth to the team, and six goals in eight games is significant value to us.

"I don't think Bournemouth would want to pay a hefty transfer fee, and he's also out injured at the moment. Tyrese Campbell has unfortunately had a history of injury issues, so whether they would want to take a gamble on that like we did is unknown. We did take the gamble, but obviously it was a free transfer for us.

"He's come in as competition, or as a backup really, to Kieffer Moore, and he's just done so well that he's forced his way into the first team reckoning.

"So, it'll be interesting when Tyrese comes back as to who gets the starting berth, as we only play one up front, whether it's going to be Moore or Campbell.

"I'd be amazed, amazed, if we would even entertain selling him. We'd probably want at least £10 million, and clubs just aren't going to pay it I don't think."

While the Blades Ramble co-host was slightly tongue-in-cheek over his warning, the feeling of 'hands off' surely rings true for the Bramall Lane faithful, who are just beginning to fall for their new forward.

Tyrese Campbell provides crucial goals in a modest Blades front line

The Stockport-born striker has unambiguously been his new club's best attacking asset in recent months, most endearing himself to the fans with a second-half winner against arch-rivals Sheffield Wednesday.

Campbell's tally of six makes him currently the club's top scorer, which is frankly, surprisingly low for a table-topping side.

While the Blades do have the fifth-most goals in the division thus far, it has been their infallible defense that has taken them to top-spot, conceding just 0.52 goals per game. While this may take them up alone, adding consistency in goalscoring to that would be a frightening prospect for the rest of the league.

Having seemingly secured a starting berth before his injury, if Campbell can return to fitness and continue his rate of scoring, the South Yorkshire side would become a simply unstoppable force in the division.
