‘At Fiorentina the coach wanted me’ – Adli sheds more light on Milan exit | OneFootball

Yacine Adli has opened up on his AC Milan exit and decision to join Fiorentina, suggesting that Stefano Pioli never really wanted him to begin with.

Adli’s time at Milan was an interesting one to say the least, as he was signed and then initially loaned back to Bordeaux before returning to Italy and then barely playing a minute in his first proper season.

Last season he got a few more opportunities, though the impression was that he was never a big part of Pioli’s plans. The change in head coach did little to change perceptions either.

Instead, it was deemed that Adli did not have a place within the squad as the Portuguese head coach saw an exit as a better move for all parties, and so far, it can be argued that this was the right decision.

There are now a number of sources claiming that Fiorentina are already looking to make Adli’s loan a permanent deal, and the French midfielder has given an interview to RMC Sport about his future.

“It’s difficult to talk about my future now, we’re still in the early stages of the season. My goal is to let the pitch do the talking, playing a great season with consistency. That way Fiorentina will buy me, otherwise I will have been useful anyway to grow,” he said (via Calciomercato.com).

“I was chosen by the Rossoneri management, instead at Fiorentina the coach wanted me and the club agreed. It’s different, here I feel more confident and I can express myself better.

“Italy improved me tactically, today I’m a more complete player and I can cover all the roles in midfield, making my mark in both phases of the game.”
