Aston Villa have recently signed the out of favour Manchester United star Marcus Rashford on a loan move till the end of the season. They also possess the option to sign the player permanently for £40 million at the end of the season. However, FC Barcelona have been linked with the signing of the player throughout the transfer window and still retains an interest in the player. Fraser Fletcher of TEAMtalk has reported that Rashford won’t want to stay at Villa after this season, amidst interest from the La Liga giants.
The Englishman has not played for the first team since December, and Ruben Amorim had refused to draft him in the first team. So, he was looking for first-team action and will be gunning to get back to his best while playing for Villa for the remainder of the season.
Villa also needed to strengthen their attack, and he will be looking to complement Ollie Watkins in the attack. Barcelona were also looking for a striker and a left-winger. They don’t have a natural left-winger, as Ansu Fati is the only one left in that position. On the other hand, Robert Lewandowski is 36 years old and needs a replacement. Hence, the Blaugrana were very interested in the services of Rashford.

Marcus Rashford stands out with his explosive speed and clinical finishing. His ability to manoeuvre through defences with agility is unmatched, making him a constant threat. Rashford has scored 4 goals in 15 matches so far in the Premier League 2024/2025 season. Overall, his goals scored per 90 minutes is 0.37. Moreover, Marcus Rashford’s total G/A (goals + assists) is 5 for this season. His goal involvement equates to 0.46 per 90 minutes. His non-penalty xG per 90 minutes is 0.33. This puts Marcus Rashford’s npxG output at 3.59. He has appeared in 15 matches this season in the Premier League, playing a total of 983 minutes. Hence, he surely needs more game time.
If Rashford does get going in Villa in the remainder of the season and Barcelona come up with an offer for the star in the summer, it will be difficult for the Englishman to refuse. The Blaugrana are one of the biggest clubs in the world and every player aspires to play for them. So, it will be definitely tough for Rashford to stay at Villa if Barcelona come knocking on the door.
