Aston Villa loanee James Bree started for Ipswich Town as they were demolished by rivals Norwich City 3-0 on Sunday.
Bree went the full 90 minutes but was unable to help the Championship’s bottom side earn valuable points, with many blaming him for Norwich’s first goal less than two minutes into the match.
On Tuesday, Bree opened up on what he hopes to accomplish with Ipswich.
“It’s just about what I can do now and hopefully I can get some good games under my belt here then go back and push for a first-team spot up there,” he told EADT.
“In terms of my match fitness, I’m not quite 100 per cent yet.
“I think I’m still a little bit off it but the games for Ipswich are coming in quick succession and that will definitely help.
“Maybe in a couple of weeks I’ll be bang at it. There’s definitely more to come from me.
“I’ve been thrown in there and had to try to do my job. I know I can perform better, get on the ball more and hopefully get more into the attacking side of it but at the moment I just need to do my defensive duties.
“Back when I was at Barnsley I had a lot of energy getting up and down the pitch so I think I need to get that back in my game and get some more crosses into the box.
“I’m liking it here and the lads have really helped me settle down.
“I’ve been thrown in the deep end a bit but it’s been good so hopefully, I can kick on.”
Bree will next be in action for Ipswich on Wednesday when they host Derby County.
