Aston Villa update opens door for Nottingham Forest and Stoke January transfer battle
Football League World
Aston Villa are set to allow Nottingham Forest and Stoke City summer target Keinan Davis to leave on loan in January should they not lose any more attacking players due to injury, according to The Athletic.
The Villa striker has been struggling from a knee problem in the early stages of 2021/22 and is yet to feature for Dean Smith’s side this term, though given the quality of the attacking reinforcements that arrived in the summer you feel it will be hard for him to force his way back into consideration when he is fit.
With that in mind, The Athletic has reported that Davis will be allowed to go out on loan in the January window as long as Smith doesn’t lose any attacking players to injury over the next few months.
Have Nottingham Forest had a higher or lower average attendance compared to these 23 sides this season?
It looks as though Forest and Stoke will get a chance to make up for missing out on Davis in the summer – assuming Villa don’t lose any more attackers to injury.
The Reds certainly seem to still be in need of a new striker, with Lewis Grabban and Lyle Taylor the only options available to Steve Cooper, but it may be that Stoke feel they’ve got enough firepower having added Sam Surridge late in the summer window and with Tyrese Campbell coming back from injury.
Davis would be a strong addition to any Championship squad and you feel won’t be short of suitors when the winter window opens.
It’s certainly one to watch moving forward.
