Aston Villa couple Douglas Luiz and Alisha Lehmann have reportedly split after a spat over the latter’s 2023 calendar.

Luiz and Lehmann quickly became fan favourites after revealing they were in a relationship last year.

The football stars play for Aston Villa in the Premier League and Women’s Super League respectively, and they presumably met while at the club.

But the pair reportedly split after Luiz was unhappy with Lehmann’s participation in a photoshoot for a 2023 calendar, according to The Sun.

Lehmann has now allegedly moved in with a teammate, while Luiz is currently representing Brazil at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. Photos of the pair can no longer be found on both of their respective social media platforms.

The relationship breakdown comes just two months after Luiz defended Lehmann against misogynistic comments made by Brazilian TV host Milton Neves.

Who is Alisha Lehmann?

Lehmann, who has made more than 30 appearances for Switzerland, has played in the WSL for the past four seasons.

The forward started her career at Youngs Boys Frauen, before moving to West Ham in 2018.

After a loan spell at Everton in 2021, she signed for Aston Villa last year and helped the side avoid relegation.

The team have soared up the WSL table this season, and are currently in fifth place. Lehmann has been a star player, linking up well with Rachel Daly and Kenza Dali to contribute one goal and one assist.

The 23-year-old, who boasts more than eight million Instagram followers, is sponsored by Adidas.

Who is Douglas Luiz?

Luiz is having a trickier season, with Aston Villa currently 12th in the Premier League table.

But the 24-year-old was recently rewarded for his standout performances, signing a new contract with the club in October.

Luiz will now be hoping to help Brazil to a record sixth World Cup title in Qatar. His side get underway against Serbia on Thursday.
