Valencia do not want to go for a permanent transfer for Aston Villa’s Enzo Barrenechea, but they would be interested in him if the Villans agree to loan him out.
Last summer, the Villans got Barrenechea alongside Samuel Iling-Junior from Juventus as part of Douglas Luiz’s departure to the Old Lady.
The Argentine, though, was loaned out immediately, and La Liga outfit Valencia got him for the entirety of the previous term.
Barrenechea had an impressive second half of the campaign under Carlos Corberan at the Mestalla and became an important part of the side under the former West Brom boss.
His loan is coming to an end at the Spanish top-flight club this month and he is scheduled to return to Villa Park.
Valencia want to keep him longer at the club, but for now, he will be back at the English club upon his loan expiry.
And according to Spanish radio station Tribuna Deportiva, the Mestalla outfit would be candidates if the Villa Park outfit want to loan him out again.
It has been suggested that the Villa Park outfit want €9m to €12m to let the Argentine go and five to six clubs are interested.
Valencia, though, are not interested in buying him permanently; they only want to loan him in, if the Villans make him available.
Barrenecha featured in 33 games for Valencia in the 2024-25 campaign, amassing almost 2,300 minutes in the process.
His impressive displays in the second half of the season earned him suitors ahead of the fresh campaign, and it remains to be seen if his Aston Villa adventure will end after one year.
Valencia will be watching closely as a possible loan may only become possible towards the end of the window if Aston Villa have not sold him.
