Aston Villa reveal significant Emi Buendía injury

Emi Buendía faces a lengthy spell on the sidelines with a knee injury, Aston Villa have announced.

The Argentine sustained ‘significant ligament damage’ during training on Wednesday and underwent scans.

A timeline is yet to be placed on how long he’ll be out of action and he does face further consultation with a knee specialist.

However, early indications are that he will miss the majority of the season.

Villa have already been linked with a move for a new playmaker to fill the void, namely Nicolò Zaniolo of Galatasaray.
