Aston Villa have confirmed that John McGinn fractured his ankle in the early stages of Saturday’s defeat to Southampton.
McGinn had to be substituted after just eight minutes at Villa Park and the Scotland international is now expected to miss up to three months of action.

His injury could see Villa dip into the January transfer market for a new midfielder.
Saturday’s result saw Dean Smith’s side slip into the relegation zone and they are now without a win in their last five Premier League matches.
