Fulham have had a bid for Aston Villa defender Diego Carlos rejected on Friday, the Athletic’s David Ornstein has reported.
The 31-year-old is one of the top earners at Villa Park and it has emerged that they are open to offers for him before the transfer window closes.
However, the first undisclosed bid they have received from the Cottagers has been turned down, although talks between the clubs are continuing.
There is also interest in Carlos, who was signed from Sevilla two years ago for £26m, from the Saudi Pro League.
Although Fulham have added Jorge Cuenca from Villarreal, they remain eager to add to their options at the heart of defence following the departures of Tosin Adarabioyo and Tim Ream this summer.
