The Athletic confirms reports that Aston Villa are ready to recall Samuel Iling-Junior from his loan spell at Bologna early, as they are frustrated at the lack of playing time.
The 21-year-old winger came through the youth academies at Chelsea and then Juventus, where he made his mark playing for the Juve Next Gen side and the senior squad.
It proved enough to earn him a €14m transfer to Aston Villa as part of the deal bringing Douglas Luiz to Turin, a move that has not gone well for anyone concerned.
Aston Villa immediately loaned Iling-Junior back to Serie A for Bologna in August and he has made 12 appearances between Serie A, the Champions League and Coppa Italia.
However, only three of those were starts and in Serie A he has played just 14 minutes of football since October 7.
Because Iling-Junior did not play any football for Aston Villa in official competition this season, he is still able to sign for a third club on loan.
Also from Juventus as part of that Douglas Luiz deal, Enzo Barrenechea was then loaned by Aston Villa to Valencia, where he started nine of his 12 La Liga games.
