Aston Villa FC are leading the race to sign Brest goalkeeper Marco Bizot (34), according to a report from L’Equipe. The Dutch goalkeeper is expected to leave Les Ty-Zeffs as he is set to enter his final contract year with the Ligue 1 side. The 34-year-old is the subject of a strong interest from Unai Emery’s Villans. Club-to-club talks are reportedly gathering pace between Aston Villa and Brest.

Bizot would not necessarily compete with Emiliano Martinez for the No. 1 spot, given the Argentina international goalkeeper is tied with Aston Villa over a long-term contract set to expire in 2029. The outlet understands that Saudi Pro League outfits and promoted Premier League side Leeds United also made their interest known, but Aston Villa are now in pole position to sign Bizot, one of the most consistent shot-stoppers in Ligue 1.
