With the January transfer window now open, Paris Saint-Germain is looking to move on players who no longer fit into their plans—Marco Asensio being one of them.
Since November 30, Asensio’s role has been steadily reduced. The former Real Madrid star has dropped out of the starting lineup and has rarely made appearances off the bench.
Mail Sport reported that Aston Villa are among the clubs considering Asensio as they look to strengthen their attack before the window closes. Earlier this week, a report linked the Spaniard to Wolverhampton, Newcastle, Crystal Palace, and Chelsea.
While Aston Villa are reportedly leading the race, Bayer Leverkusen, Galatasaray, and clubs in Saudi Arabia have also shown interest. Negotiations for a permanent move are ongoing, with a transfer fee likely to fall between €15 million and €25 million.
With the window closing and Luis Enrique seemingly not seeing him as a key part of his plans, Asensio’s future is becoming a hot topic of speculation.

L’Equipe’s Loïc Tanzi reports that talks between Aston Villa and PSG for Asensio are ongoing and described as “positive.”
On Thursday, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reported that Aston Villa are in talks with PSG for Asensio, one of the prominent names on their list. Moreover, Romano’s reporting reveals that the Spaniard would be keen on a move to Villa.
