Aston Villa offer €25m for Milan midfielder De Ketelaere | OneFootball

Aston Villa have submitted a €25 million bid for AC Milan attacking midfielder Charles De Ketelaere, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.

The Villains want the Belgian midfielder, but the Rossoneri are demanding at least €28 million. Milan spent €35m to sign the player from Club Brugge last summer.

Milan are ready to let him leave after a disappointing first season in Italy. He failed to score a single goal in Serie A and registered only one assist.

Leeds United are also interested in De Ketelaere as they seek reinforcements to help them climb back into the Premier League from the Championship. They are yet to submit an offer.

The midfielder registered 14 goals and nine assists in 39 games in his last season in the Belgian Pro League. He also impressed in the Champions League.

Milan moved for him, with former directors Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara leading the charge. However, his position at Milan is no longer certain after the pair left the club.

It was initially thought that Milan would give De Ketelaere more time to shine. Sandro Tonali and Rafael Leao also had disappointing debut campaigns but improved in their second season.

However, Milan have added Christian Pulisic to their squad, which will push De Ketelaere further down the pecking order.

Villa recently completed the signing Pau Torres from Villarreal. Manager Unai Emery is a massive fan of Torres and pushed for the move.

They have also signed Youri Tielemans on a free transfer. Villa’s next transfer move could be De Ketelaere, who is now surplus to requirements at the San Siro.
