In a recent report, Calciomercato stated that Aston Villa midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka is gathering interest from Italy with AC Milan eyeing a move for him this summer. It is believed that the Milan giants along with Barcelona are showing interest in signing the English youngster from the Villans in this off-season.

Chukwuemeka’s Rapid Rise In English Football

Chukwuemeka did well to break into the Villans’ first XI last season but struggled to find consistency in Premier League football. He showed a few flashes of what he is capable of but failed to earn enough first-team starts in league football. The 18-year-old secured one assist in 18 matches for the West Midlands club in the previous campaign across all competitions.

The Aston Villa prospect made most of his league appearances as a substitute which explains why he only averaged 0.6 tackles and 0.5 dribbles per 90 minutes in Premier League football. He distributed possession with conviction after completing 81.7% of his attempted passes in the English top-flight (stats via whoscored).

What Should Be Aston Villa Boss Steven Gerrard’s Play With Regards To Chukwuemeka?

Chukwuemeka is a good tackler of the ball and can make life tough for the opposition at the centre of the park. He is a tidy passer of the ball as well and can make some powerful runs with the ball towards the opponent’s penalty area.

However, the English sensation is still quite inexperienced at the highest level. At 21, the future is quite bright for the talented whizkid as long as he continues to improve with each year.

Chukwuemeka’s current contract at Villa Park is set to expire at the end of next season. Therefore, Aston Villa head coach Steven Gerrard would have no choice but to cash in on him for a cut-price fee during this summer transfer window or else risk losing him as a free agent in 2023.

Chukwuemeka has shown no indication of penning a new contract with the West Midlands club. With all things considered, the Villans should think about cutting the English talent loose ahead of the new campaign as he is currently surplus to requirements at Villa Park.
