In a recent report, Birmingham Mail mentioned that Aston Villa midfielder Morgan Sanson is gathering interest from Turkey with Galatasaray eager to recruit him this summer. It is understood that the Villans midfield ace is on the radar of the Turkish giants with his current contract at Villa Park set to expire in the summer of 2025.
Sanson had a torrid campaign at the West Midlands club as he missed a lot of key games due to injury. The Frenchman appeared in just 11 matches for the Villans last season but failed to register a goal or an assist across all competitions.
The 27-year-old made most of his league appearances as a substitute but did well to average 1.2 tackles, 1.0 interceptions and 1.3 dribbles per game in Premier League football. He even took care of the ball well when distributing possession from midfield, as evidenced by his pass success rate of 78.4% in the English first division (stats via whoscored).

Sanson is a tough-tackling midfielder who works hard to earn the ball back for his team at the centre of the park. He can even complete some intelligent dribbles with the ball from midfield. The French sensation is primarily a box-to-box midfielder but can even function as a defensive midfielder or play in the number ten position if required.
However, frequent injuries have hampered his career at Villa Park so far. At 27, Sanson is entering his prime and would need to ensure regular game time in the coming seasons. Thus, it makes sense for the talented midfield ace to opt for a change of scenery this summer in search of greener pastures.
Sanson is currently on the fringes of Steven Gerrard‘s squad. He has struggled to adapt to life in English football, so the Villans would be wise to cut him loose for a fair fee before the start of the new campaign.
The West Midlands club should rather use the money generated from his potential sale to strengthen other areas of their squad in this off-season.
