With PSR rules and a lack of UEFA Champions League qualification impacting his budget, Villa boss Unai Emery has only spent around £31m on new faces, including Ivory Coast international Evann Guessand.

Jacob Ramsey’s move to Newcastle United has been the main departure and Emery is keen to bring in reinforcements before the deadline.

Defence is a key area of focus for the Spanish boss and reports from the Daily Telegraph have indicated a move for Osasuna defender Enzo Boyomo is incoming.

The Cameroon international can cover at full back and in central defence with an impressive debut season at Osasuna after joining from Real Valladolid last summer.

Osasuna are also in a delicate financial position, as the club look to sell players before the deadline, and they could demand in the region of €20m for the 23-year-old who is under contract until 2029.

New boss Alessio Lisci has started Boyomo in Osasuna’s opening two games of the La Liga season, on the right of a back three, but his departure is not ruled out.

Jesus Areso has moved on to Athletic Club, in a €12m deal, and the club have also slashed their wage bill with several exits.

Pablo Ibanez, Jose Arnaiz, Ruben Pena and Unai Garcia have all left Pamplona as part of a squad shrinking exercise aimed at cutting costs at El Sadar.
