Kortney Hause and Aston Villa will not rush into any rash decisions despite the defender entering the final stages of his contract, according to Express & Star journalist Luke Hatfield.

What's the latest news involving Hause?

Hause has entered the last 12 months of his £8,000-per-week deal, leading to Villa legend Gabby Agbonlahor urging his former employers to quickly tie the centre-half down to an extended contract.

Reports suggest Premier League rivals West Ham United even looked into the possibility of pouncing on the uncertainty of Hause's future by signing the 26-year-old during the summer transfer window.

However, Hammers boss David Moyes then opted to fork out £29.8million to welcome Kurt Zouma to the London Stadium from Chelsea instead.

Hause has made 48 appearances since joining Villa from neighbours Wolverhampton Wanderers, initially on loan, in January 2019.

The defender, who cost £3million, is currently valued at £4.5million by Transfermarkt but he could sign a pre-contract agreement with another club in January should he fail to agree fresh terms by then.

As a result, Villa could see Hause walk away from Villa Park for nothing next summer if they do not act before the turn of the year.

What has Luke Hatfield said about Hause?

Villa reporter Hatfield insists the club and Hause are in no rush to discuss a new deal.

He told GMS: "I think the club and the player are really relaxed about the situation. I think Kortney Hause enjoys being at Villa, although he is not necessarily playing too often. As a player, does he want to be playing week in, week out?

"He's always spent a lot of time in the area because he started at Wolves and then came to Villa. He is probably quite settled in the area.

"I think Villa and Kortney Hause will be very relaxed about the situation."

How has Hause performed this season?

Hause has not been offered many opportunities to impress this term as he is currently behind fellow centre-halves Tyrone Mings, who was installed as Villa's club captain following Jack Grealish's British transfer record move to Manchester City, and Ezri Konsa in the pecking order.
