Aston Villa are actively keeping a close watch on Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson’s situation, according to journalist Florian Plettenberg.
Jackson, who joined Chelsea from Villarreal in 2023, has dropped down the pecking order following the arrival of Liam Delap and Joao Pedro.
Chelsea appear to be willing to consider offers for Jackson to balance their squad, and several clubs are interested.
Newcastle United and Bayern Munich have been linked with Jackson. However, a move to Munich is not expected to materialise with Bayern focused on signing Christopher Nkunku.
Villa are also in the mix for the striker and attentive to developments surrounding his future.
They recently parted ways with Jacob Ramsey, so may look to bolster their offensive ranks before the transfer window shuts.
Jackson’s versatility across the forward line makes him an attractive option, and a move to Villa Park would reunite him with former Villarreal manager Unai Emery.
Chelsea have reportedly set an asking price of around £60 million for Jackson, with eight years left on his current contract at Stamford Bridge.
Villa are highly unlikely to be able to afford that amount as they seek to navigate the Premier League’s financial rules.
Jackson was suspended for Chelsea’s opening fixture against Crystal Palace on Sunday, although he could return to the squad for Friday’s derby against West Ham United at the London Stadium.
