The Brazil international has long been linked with a move to England, where Newcastle and Tottenham have made past attempts.
However, the Athletic says Villa are now keen on Carlos.
Villa boss Steven Gerrard is a fan and is eager to bring the stopper to Birmingham this summer.
Carlos, 29, has two years left on his contract with Sevilla.
