In a recent report, Fichajes stated that Aston Villa have identified Chelsea star Conor Gallagher as a target. It has been claimed that the Villans have set their sights on recruiting the English midfielder in the upcoming transfer window.

Gallagher has enjoyed a solid campaign at the West London club as he has managed to catch the eye at times for them in the Premier League. The Epsom-born talent has been involved in 50 matches for the Blues this season, netting seven goals and grabbing nine assists in multiple competitions.

The 24-year-old deserves some credit for averaging 2.3 tackles, 1.1 interceptions, 0.8 clearances, 1.3 shots, 1.4 key passes and 1.0 dribbles per game in the Premier League. He has even been tidy when distributing the ball from midfield after completing 91.5% of his attempted passes in the English top tier (stats via whoscored).

Gallagher is under contract at Stamford Bridge until the summer of 2025 which could open the door for the Villans to snap him up on the cheap later this year.

What Will Gallagher Bring To Aston Villa?

Gallagher is a good tackler of the ball and can make the odd interception for his team in the middle of the park. He can strike the ball with venom and precision from long range. The English midfield ace has got the vision to create a few promising chances for his teammates up top and is an energetic runner with the ball.

Gallagher is primarily a box-to-box midfielder but can also play in the number ten position or serve as a defensive midfielder if told to do so. We can expect him to bring more energy and dynamism to Aston Villa head coach Unai Emery’s midfield department.

Gallagher is more than capable of earning a regular first-team spot at Villa Park next season. At 24, he will only get better with each season, so the Villans would be wise to try everything in their power to get a deal done for him in the summer transfer window.

Gallagher has proven his worth in the Premier League and won’t take much time to settle into life at the West Midlands club. Thus, Emery should focus on recruiting him later this summer.
