Aston Villa are set to be “active” at Villa Park during transfer deadline day tomorrow, Daily Express journalistRyan Taylor has suggested to GiveMeSport.

Unai Emery will be hoping to bolster his squad as the Villans look to push for a top-half Premier League finish in the second half of the campaign.

Aston Villa transfer news – January

It has been a steady January transfer window at Villa Park this month, with Emery making two permanent additions to his Villa squad, whilst six players have left the side on either a permanent or loan basis.

Real Betis left-back Álex Moreno was the first new signing of the Emery era, signing for a fee of £13.2m towards the beginning of the month.

This has been followed by the acquisition of Colombian teenager Jhon Duran from Chicago Fire, who has arrived in the West Midlands for a hefty sum of £18m, though this has largely been offset by the £15m departure of Danny Ings to West Ham United.

Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has recently suggested to GiveMeSport that Villa will look to back Emery in the final hours of the transfer window as the Spaniard looks to secure a strong finish to the season for the Villans.

And Taylor believes that whilst it’s difficult to “pinpoint” players that the club are interested in, he expects the Midlands giants to be active ahead of Tuesday’s transfer deadline.

What has Taylor said about Villa?

When talking about Villa’s potential transfer business, Taylor told GiveMeSport: “It’s hard to pinpoint names with Villa because they keep everything under wraps generally. But I would expect Villa to be active tomorrow, definitely.”

Yes No

Who could Villa look to sign?

At the beginning of January, Emery told reporters that he wanted to sign a “specialist winger” this month, something which has so far failed to materialise for the Premier League outfit.

The Villans were linked with a move for Udinese winger Gerard Deulofeu, but a £22m switch has been ruled out after an injury suffered by the wide man means the former Everton and Watford star is now facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

Emery’s side have also shown an interest in Real Betis’ Luis Henrique, in a switch which would likely cost somewhere in the region of £40m, but it is suggested that the Brazilian is happy with the La Liga outfit for the time being.

However, as has so often happened with Villa’s transfer business since their promotion to the Premier League in 2019, the club are likely working on several names behind the scenes, so don’t be surprised to hear of an unexpected arrival at Villa Park before tomorrow’s transfer deadline.
