Aston Villa rounded off their unbeaten pre-season campaign with a 2-1 win over Valencia.

Unai Emery’s side opened the scoring against his former club courtesy of Ollie Watkins drilling past Giorgi Mamardashvili from outside the area to record a fourth pre-season goal.

Despite the hosts emerging after the interval with renewed purpose, the Villains doubled their advantage through Emiliano Buendía’s sweeping finish after being teed up by Philippe Coutinho.

But Los Che reduced their deficit in the closing stages at the Mestalla when Calum Chambers turned the ball into his own net from a corner.
