It is the latest injury blow to Unai Emery, who earlier this week saw midfielder Boubacar Kamara ruled out for with an ACL tear, the third for a Villa player this season after Tyrone Mings and Emiliano Buendia.

Ezri Konsa is also currently sidelined but is expected to be back in a few weeks, while Pau Torres is yet to play this calendar year after an ankle issue, although he returned to the bench for the losses to Chelsea and Manchester United.

Villa currently sit in fifth place but have won just two of their last seven league games.
