Aston Villa have confirmed that they have completed the permanent signing of Philippe Coutinho from Barcelona.
The Brazilian midfielder has signed a contract at Villa Park until the summer of 2026.
Coutinho arrived at the club initially on loan in January but has now made the move to Birmingham for an undisclosed fee, although the Spanish club stated the fee was around €20m in their announcement of the transfer.
Head coach Steven Gerrard told the club’s website: “This is a brilliant signing for Aston Villa. Phil is a model professional and his impact on the group has been very clear since he joined in January.
“With the way he conducts himself on and off the pitch, he’s also a valuable role model for our younger players who can only benefit from his experience.”
The 29-year-old has provided four goals and three assists so far in his time at Villa.
