Aston Villa have announced that central defender Diego Carlos has ruptured his Achilles tendon and is set for a prolonged spell on the sidelines.
The 29-year-old had to be withdrawn late into the 2-1 win over Everton on Saturday after going down with an injury.

Manager Steven Gerrard revealed his concerns about the injury post-match, stating: “He looks concerned with it and the medical staff seem concerned and that’s the reason why I’m worried about it.”
The Brazilian arrived at Villa Park from Sevilla this summer for a fee of around €30m.
