Aston Villa boss Steven Gerrard admits he wants Ashley Young to be handed a new contract.
The veteran wing-back joined Villa this season from Inter Milan.
Gerrard now hopes Young will stay for another 12 months, stating: "There has already been a dialogue and I have told Ashley Young that I want him to stay with us.
"Of course, it requires that the player is also satisfied, wants to stay and wants to sit at the negotiating table.
"There is no stress, but I have expressed to him that I am very pleased with his performance."
