In a recent report, TyC Sports mentioned that Aston Villa are keeping tabs on Tottenham Hotspur loanee Giovani Lo Celso who is playing on loan at Villarreal. It has been stated that the Villans are planning to launch a formal move to land the Argentine talent.

Lo Celso’s Decent Loan Spell At Villarreal

Lo Celso is having a solid loan spell in Spain as he has managed to establish himself as a valuable member of Villarreal’s squad. The 27-year-old has registered one goal and two assists in 22 matches for the Yellow Submarine this season across various competitions.

The Argentine sensation has given a good account of himself by averaging 1.5 shots, 1.1 key passes and 1.1 dribbles per 90 minutes in La Liga. He has even been tidy with his ball distribution after making 85.6% of his attempted passes in the Spanish top tier (stats via whoscored).

His current contract at the North London club is set to run out in the summer of 2025. Thus, the Villans will have to make a good offer if they are serious about recruiting Lo Celso during the summer transfer window.

Should Aston Villa Boss Unai Emery Move In For Lo Celso?

Lo Celso is a solid tackler of the ball and can strike the ball purely and with power from long range. He has got the vision to engineer a few promising chances for his teammates on the attacking end of the field.

The Argentine sensation is a decent dribbler with the ball as well but needs to find a way to improve his productivity up top. He is primarily a box-to-box midfielder but can also fill in as an attacking midfielder if asked to do so.

We can expect Lo Celso to add plenty of quality and depth to Aston Villa‘s squad if Unai Emery can devise a way to bring him to Villa Park this summer. At 27, the Argentine talent is playing in his prime and has got enough experience in Premier League football to make an instant impact for the West Midlands club next season. Thus, Emery would be wise to move in for him as long as he can get him for a fair price during the upcoming transfer period.
