In a recent interview with Give Me Sport, journalist Ben Jacobs revealed that Aston Villa are big admirers of Arsenal playmaker Emile Smith Rowe. Jacobs said,

“Smith Rowe is still an interesting point of discussion at Arsenal. I’m still told the Villa interest is genuine. Whether or not anything moves in January remains to be seen, and I think if Smith Rowe, as an academy graduate, were to leave, then it may divide the Arsenal fan base a little bit. But it wouldn’t surprise me if the right offer comes if Arsenal consider that. Again, that may be one to watch in 2024 rather than in the next few days. But I am told there is something genuine in the Villa interest in Smith Rowe.”

Smith Rowe’s Lack Of Game Time In Premier League Football

Smith Rowe has struggled to earn regular playing time at the North London club this season. The 23-year-old has picked up one assist in 13 matches for the Gunners during this campaign across all competitions.

His current contract at Arsenal will run out in the summer of 2026. Hence, it won’t be easy for the Villans to recruit the English talent on the cheap in this winter transfer window.

What Will Smith Rowe Bring To Aston Villa?

Smith Rowe is a decent dribbler with the ball at his feet and can make a few driving runs with the ball in the opponent’s half when he is playing regularly and with confidence on the pitch. The English talent can shoot the ball purely from long range and is also proficient at setting up some good plays for his teammates up top.

We can expect Smith Rowe to bring more goals and creativity to Aston Villa boss Unai Emery’s attack. He will also help the Villans challenge across all fronts in the coming seasons.

At 23, the best is yet to come from Smith Rowe. Hence, Emery should think about trying everything he can to lure him to Villa Park but only if he is planning to use his regularly over the next few years.

Smith Rowe knows the Premier League well by now and should not take too much time to settle into life at the West Midlands club.
