Aston Villa have agreed to sell their women's team to owners V Sports with 'prominent US investors' also getting a stake.

According to David Ornstein of The Athletic, Vila are set to complete a similar deal to what Chelsea did with their women's team previously.

The Blues sold the women's team to its owners, BlueCo, last summer and then sold a stake of that in May to Reddit founder Alexis Ohanian.

V Sports already has stakes in other clubs including the Portuguese team from Guimarães, Vitória SC, and Spanish outfit Real Unión.

While Chelsea's winning women's team generated around £200 million, Villa's side (which finished sixth in the WSL last season) are expected to help their club's PSR and FFP commitment by generating around £50-60 million.
