Assists R29: Florian Sotoca finds his voice | OneFootball

Florian Sotoca (RC Lens) bagged his eighth assist of the season at Rennes on Sunday - after not having done so since R23. He now sits fourth in the official Ligue 1 Uber Eats assist list, behind PSG's Lionel Messi and Neymar, followed by Jonathan Clauss (OM).

Florian Sotoca, who had been without an assist for more than a month and a half, got back on track in Round 29. During RC Lens' victory at Rennes (0-1), the Lens forward set up the only goal of the match for Loïs Openda, with a perfectly curled cross. Thanks to this eighth assist of the campaign, Sotoca hung onto fourth place on the official assists chart but remains under pressure from Toulouse string-puller Branco van den Boomen.

This weekend, in Brest, Dutch midfielder van den Boomen also scored his eighth assist of the season, finding the head of compatriot Thijs Dallinga. He remains one place behind Sotoca, however, on number of assists on open play (eight for Sotoca, seven for van den Boomen). Just behind them, Aleksandr Golovin (AS Monaco) moved up one place and overtook his team-mate Caio Henrique to hit sixth place after 29 games.

Angel Gomes moves up with his double LOSC's English midfielder Angel Gomes was particularly inspirational on Sunday, grabbing his first Ligue 1 Uber Eats assist brace. The 22-year-old is now in seventh place, three lengths off the podium.

Franck Honorat, who also got two assists at the weekend, is now twelfth in the table with six assists. The Stade Brestois 29 forward has conjured all six of his assists in just three games, following his assist in Round 1 and his hat-trick in Round 20.
