It’s been a summer of snubs for Manchester United this year, as they have again been made to go back to the drawing board in their pursuit of a prolific goalscorer.
Since the start of the window, the Red Devils have seen primary targets Liam Delap and Viktor Gyokeres rebuff their approaches in favour of moves to Chelsea and Arsenal, respectively. The latter’s transfer has yet to be finalised but all parties are in ‘advanced talks’, with the situation developing swiftly.
Now, one journalist has revealed this morning that another player has ‘rejected’ a proposal from United in the form of renowned frontman Victor Osimhen.

Indeed, Turkish reporter Yagiz Sabuncuoglu has revealed that United, who ‘really want’ to hash out a deal for the Nigerian, requested that he take a pay-cut to sign for them over his other suitors, to which Osimhen declined.
He is now closing in on a move to Galatasaray, where he spent the 2024/2025 campaign on loan, after they tabled the most lucrative offer. Al-Hilal and Juventus are waiting in the wings to see if the transfer materialises, although selling their profitable asset to the Serie A outfit is seen as a last resort in the eyes of arch-rivals Napoli.
The 26-year-old boasts a stunning record of 151 career goals and 36 assists in 264 first-team appearances – the kind of numbers that could’ve transformed a depleted United attack.
Nonetheless, INEOS are now floundering to pursue an alternative but haven’t found much joy with the options available on the market.
They’re said to be considering two players with several years’ worth of Premier League experience between them: Ollie Watkins and Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
Calvert-Lewin was released by Everton last week after nine years at Goodison Park, while Watkins will cost a reported £60 million if he’s to leave Aston Villa before 2025/2026 gets underway.
