Highly-touted defender Evan Ndicka has chosen AS Roma as his next destination, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The 23-year-old will leave Eintracht Frankfurt at the end of his contract this summer and sign a five-year deal with the Giallorossi.

Ndicka chose Roma after considering an offer from their Serie A rivals, AC Milan.

However, while Milan reportedly offered the Frenchman an annual salary of €3 million, Roma surpassed that offer with an additional €1m, sealing the deal for the left-footed centre-back.

Ndicka played 30 Bundesliga games this season, helping his side keep six clean sheets. He also helped Eintracht reach the DFB-Pokal final, which they lost to RB Leipzig.

His notable achievements include lifting the Europa League trophy in 2022 and participating in the club’s recent Champions League campaign.

The former Auxerre man recently switched his international allegiance from France to Ivory Coast.

Following their impressive Europa League final run, Roma are eager to finalise the terms of Ndicka’s arrival. The player will fly to Italy today to complete the move to the Italian capital.

Roma are looking to continue with manager Jose Mourinho. They are moving quickly to give the Portuguese tactician all the tools he needs to compete next season.

Mourinho previously complained about the club’s spending and the lack of top-class options.

They have already signed Ndicka in defence and may add another new option if they sell Roger Ibanez.

They have also signed midfielder Houssem Aouar on a free transfer and are in the market for a striker.

With Tammy Abraham sidelined, West Ham United’s Gianluca Scamacca has emerged as a target.
