AS Roma are in talks to sign Manchester City star Claudio Echeverri on loan this summer (h/t journalist Gianluca Di Marzio).
The Giallorossi want to continue their squad overhaul as they usher into a new era under manager Gian Piero Gasperini.
An attacking midfielder is among the priorities, and Echeverri has emerged as a potential target.
The 19-year-old completed a move from River Plate to the Etihad Stadium in February in a deal that was agreed in January 2024.
He also caught the eye with his splendid free-kick against Al-Ain in the FIFA Club World Cup.
However, it remains uncertain whether Echeverri will play regularly for Man City this season. Any decision on his future rests with manager Pep Guardiola.
Roma are exploring an opportunity to make the Argentine a key player. However, they want a buy-option in Echeverri’s deal rather than a dry loan.
The Argentine prodigy rose to prominence after his stellar campaign in the South American Under-20 Championship. He bagged six goals and three assists as Argentina finished runners-up.
Echeverri could be enticed to link up with his compatriots Paulo Dybala and Matias Soule at Roma.
He primarily functions as a number 10 but can also play as a left winger.
The Giallorossi are monitoring Shakhtar Donetsk’s Kevin as a potential target to bolster the left flank after losing the transfer battle for Igor Paixao.
Roma have signed Wesley, Neil El Aynaoui, Evan Ferguson and Devis Vazquez this summer.
They are open to selling Ukrainian striker Artem Dovbyk for €40 million.
