AS Roma have identified Torino midfielder Sasa Lukic as a top target and want to sign him in January or next summer, according to Calciomercato.

The Serbian international has been at the heart of Torino’s midfield since 2017, and his stature has grown in recent seasons.

Lukic has been one of the best-performing midfielders in Serie A this term, netting three goals and an assist in all competitions.

The 26-year-old has carried on his excellent form to the World Cup. He was one of the bright spots for Serbia in the 2-0 defeat to Brazil and helped his side secure a 3-3 draw against Cameroon.

Lukic’s contract with Turin giants expires in 2024, and he is keen to take up a new challenge in his career.

Torino are looking to part ways with the Serb for around €15 million, while Roma are exploring a swap deal.

The Giallorossi have offered the Turin giants defender Marash Kumbulla in exchange for Lukic.

Kumbulla has endured a difficult spell since moving from Hellas Verona, with his development hindered by injuries and a lack of game time.

The Albanian defender is currently down the pecking order at the Stadio Olimpico, and Jose Mourinho has given the nod for his sale.

Roma recently completed the transfer of Ola Solbakken from Bodo Glimt, with the Norwegian talent set to join the club in January.

They remain interested in Sassuolo midfielder Davide Frattesi, whose move to the Italian capital collapsed in the summer.

Frattesi has also courted interest from fellow Serie A rivals Napoli, but he prefers a move to Roma.
